Next EFM Generation (10 Gig EFM)

Postby Hans Lackner » Mon Jun 26, 2006 8:51 am

In March 2006 the IEEE 802.3 presented a new activity:

10 Gig EFM

A new taskforce was invoked on the Denver meeting in March 2006 to define the next generation of EFM. The idea is to expand the EPON Ethernet Passive Optical Network to 10 Gbps. The new technology is intended to coexist to the old one on the same fiber. The formal establishment of the new taskforce is expected in the July meeting in San Diego.
