Need for 100Gbps Ethernet

Postby knoll » Sat Apr 29, 2006 7:15 pm

Although the majority of ethernet ethusiasts seems to call for 100 Gigabit as the next step in speed for ethernet, there is still a considerable number of voices which doubt on the need for such high speed untrunked lines.
The poll above is ment to gauge the public opinion on this issue.

i believe 100G is the best way to go because the demand for bandwidth is ever increasing, for instance look at Japan or is it China? they already have most of the homes fitted with fiber. The demand for this kind of bandwidth is in demand.i could go on and on. i do not really see the disadvantages but then again theres the cost involved. Also raising to 40G wont be enough .. by the time 2010 100G internet will be in use for sure if it is evolving this rapidly at this stage.
