Light Reading has published a
summary report about the
Optoelectronics Industry Development Association (OIDA) seminar on
"100Gb Ethernet: The Next Challenge for Communications Systems".
To me, the main statements are:
- 100GE is about to be standardized in three years -> worked on by the IEEE Higher Speed Study Group
- need for 100G is there -> even terabit gets mentioned
- aim at multiple 100G port line cards to keep up with competitors
- current 100G solutions are 10 x 10G or 4 x 25G based
